Last night I had the pleasure of leading a social media session with some members of the  Engage Her team.  Engage Her is a national organization dedicated to educating and activating multicultural women and their communities about the most important issues they care about.  I’m very excited that Engage Her will be partnering with SavantMD in the very near future.

Engage is getting ready to kick off a very exciting video campaign and I was lucky enough to share some thoughts about social media, communities and conversations.  Mable Yee, (the driving force behind Engage Her) was in attendance  along with team members Briana , Meenakshi and Tameeka.  We were fortunate that Sylvia Paull, and Engage Her board member Susan Mostajo were also able to join us.

We discussed strategies, tactics, and tools to help Engage Her execute successfully on their upcoming video campaign.   They’e already got the pieces in place for a great campaign so I can’t wait for the rollout.

There is a great series of videos on social media by Euan Semple on Guruonline. Seriously, it’s wonderful stuff!!  Euan takes what’s going on in social media distills it into understandable bits, tells you where its headed and how to make it work for you.  That’s how I feel after speaking with him.

I had the pleasure of meeting Euan over sushi at Jeollado in the East Village with Paolo.  Euan is funny, smart and likes sushi.  Pretty much a perfect combination for an enriching conversation.

I’m frequently, infrequently, never asked why I blog.  Well, if anybody ever asked me, it’s a combination of several reasons: a) I enjoy writing, b) I’ve got of thoughts rolling around that I’d like to share, and there’s a lot of interesting stuff on the web to share (that was an easy one).   More suprising, I actually have readers, I suspect that most of the are business associates, friends and family, but it’s nice all the same.

And what caught my eye, well it appears that you can in in fact teach an old dog new tricks.  Fidel Castro is apparently blogging about the World Baseball Series or whatever it’s call Reflections by Comrade Fidel.  Link courtesy of Tom Verducci.

On of the interesting things about Facebook is that once a single person from one of your your relationship circles finds you, the rest of the circle can find you.  An old friend of mine that I went to school with from 1st to 8th grade recently found my sister on FB, then he found me and now I’m slowly getting back in touch with my former classmates.  I even get updates about those classmates that aren’t and probably never will be on FB.   Certainly, I expect that the 8th-graders of today will never lose touch with any of their classmates, give the prevalence of FB, other and future social networks and persistent email addresses.  It was touch to keep in touch with former classmates that moved to the next town let along moved to a different state.   More power to social media
