I attended the Journalism Innovations Conference yesterday. There were a few recurring themes during the various panels

Can/should the San Francisco Chronicle be saved?
What is the current state and future of the news, print in particular
What are aspiring journalist going to do in the future. More plainly, how do aspiring journalists find a job.
The traditional roles [...]

What is the current state and future of the news, print in particular

What are aspiring journalist going to do in the future. More plainly, how do aspiring journalists find a job.

The traditional roles of Newspapers in the community and how will that will communities and societies deal with the diminishing circulation/ disappearance of Newspapers

While these topics were of interest, the more intriguing conversations revolved around the following ideas:

Separating the idea of journalism from newspapers

Newspapers were actually designed around the monopolistic natural and reach of their distribution networks (or trucks)

New business models that will allow newspapers to continue in a new form(s).

Meeting some people that were interested in new approaches to aggregrating and publishing content, something like Evectors.
