Meeting new People

I haven’ written much on the blog lately.  I have have been writing about some new and interesting family dynamics, but I don’t think that I’m ready to blog about these recent developments.  Not just yet.

I am ready to blog about the very dynamic and interesting turn that my social/personal life taken in the past 2-3 weeks.  During that that time, I’ve participated in several talks/get-togethers/salons and participated in some very thoughtful, freeflowing and idea-provoking conversations.  Better yet, I’ve made some new friends.   Nobody has a really agenda, (well the guy hawking his new soda did),  other than to engage in interesting conversation.  Reminds of my days at Oberlin, going to parties or holding court in the “Snack Bar.”  Except, my intellectual takeaways seem to be much more fulfilling than in college.  Or perhaps I’m a better listener.

In any case, I’ve really enjoyed these events and the people that I’ve met.  It’s great to be surrounded by people that are trying to do something and are energetic, passionate and thoughtful about about whatever they are into at the moment.  Certainly beats watching the local news (which I only do under great and vocal duress).

I hope that I’m contributing during these conversations as much as I taking away.
